Oakland 1 Remodeling

This residence, built in 1967, was perhaps one of the most poorly designed homes in the Montclair area of Oakland. It had never been remodeled. The program was to upgrade the existing façade and interior public space (entry, living/dining room area and stairs to other levels). To minimize construction costs no interior reconfigurations of the existing rooms occurred. Existing doors and windows were replaced with energy efficient wood windows, and a minimum amount of replacement of the existing T-111 siding occurred. New landscaping between the street and house was a part of the redesign effort. The before and after design changes are visually significant.
